Financial Gifts

You can donate used and new furniture, appliances, building materials and more to our ReStore. Visit the Restore website for more information.
Gifts of Stock
When you transfer appreciated assets to Habitat, you avoid paying capital gains tax and become eligible to take a charitable deduction for the entire donation amount if you itemize deductions and own the stock for at least one year. Using this online tool, it only takes a couple of minutes to access account information to share with a broker or fill out the forms online to complete the gift electronically. Donate a Car or Boat
Gifts of used vehicles can build homes through Habitat’s Cars for Homes program. By designating Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana as the recipient of the proceeds, you can help build homes in Lake County, Indiana.

ReStore Donations
If you are interested in donating gently-used building materials or have large-scale furniture donations, please contact our scheduler, Theresa at 219-972-3000.
Workplace Giving – Matching Gifts
Your employer may have a matching gift program. Talk to your Human Resources department or direct manager to find out.
IRA Giving
Supporters 70.5 or older with a traditional IRA are eligible to donate Habitat directly from their IRAs without increasing their taxable incomes. These gifts are, in many cases, tax-free, regardless of whether or not you itemize deductions on your tax return. You can use this online tool to make your donation online, print out the forms you need to complete the gift offline, or learn more about the benefits of giving from your IRA.
